Everyone’s The Media
Recently, I skipped a Q&A and was remiss that it wasn’t up on YouTube the next day. Why bother going, when it’s assumed that with a room full of iPhone wielding media types, somebody is going to post this shit online? It’s just expected today that everyone has a cameraphone, which means “the media” is covering the event.
Which becomes a humorous branch of where advertising is going -- ie: creating “stunts” that get blogged about. As in “good luck with that.” Soon Loner Boner will be posting the inaugural “Snake Oil Award,” which celebrates phantom achievements claimed by those in the area of social media advertising.
In the meantime, this is a fantastic find (YouTube) for all those looking for whimsical song about the confluence of “nice guy image” with “celebrity.” With Jason Segel extolling (Randy Newman style) how they can be combined for a bisexual hook-up. I saw some mention of this and sure enough -- there it is, in high quality cameraphone video.
Jason Segel generally comes across as a nice and friendly guy, despite oddly -- not being Canadian. Unlike his former cast mate
James Franco who now seems intent on creeping everyone out, by combining his squinty-eyed appeal with theĀ shallowest art-world nonsense (his NYU short of kids raping each other on the basketball court or the new Franco media persona done in collaboration with Carter). The whole idea of constructing identity is noteworthy if it’s done like Bowie or The Beaver Trilogy (wiki, tube). But it’s just boring as a high-end photo shoot for a fashion magazine or scenester gallery show.
After checking out the Jason Segel link, here’s the band he’s playing with in LA. It’s a music video directed by Iron & Wine (aka Sam Beam).

But Pedro you are part of the media now too. Would you prefer only the media elite to provide us with filler material with which to waste away our days?
Also are you related to former NBA defensive ace, Sidney Moncrief?
