This is the definitive word on the Top 5 coffee experiences to be found in New York. Over the years we’ve tried them all and we can say Joe – The Art of Coffee, Abraço and The Mud Truck didn’t even make this list…
It all started when I scheduled a meeting with a colleague and he suggested we meet at the Ace Hotel. Sure… Cool enough place, what with the hipster doorman and Pacific Northwest vibe. Little did I suspect that the Portland vibe continued through the lobby, to the boutique Stumptown Cafe. Unlike other Stumptown purveyors in town, this one is actually a branch of the cafe and it’s meticulously staffed. Watching them make a cup was like watching some medieval alchemist smelt dark grounds into crema gold. Meaning it took forever and we had no idea what was going on.

Incidentally, the Ace Hotel lobby is some sort of de facto meeting place for freelancers to chat with clients. Maybe it’s due to the great desk they have set up in there. Who’d have thought…? It’s like the hotel bar scene in LA, only less attractive and more about selling yourself.
